Week 5: Composition, Aesthetics, Framing and

"The photographer has almost as much control over his subject matter as a painter. He can control light and shade, form and space, pattern and texture, motion and mood, everything except composition" ~ Andreas Feininger

This is my picture I chose to illustrate composition. Composition is the placement or arrangement of visual elements, ingredients or parts in a work art. I like that there is a center as well as other eye-catching parts like the bees.
Aesthetics refers to the beauty of nature captured in all types of art. This is a tiger swallowtail butterfly. While I was standing taking pictures of the flowers this butterfly landed and stayed long enough for me to take this picture.
The Rule of Thirds (aka golden rule): divide the picture into thirds so there are 9 boxes. When the subject of the picture isn't in the middle box then the rule of thirds has been followed. I Like how the photo above shows more light and a calm mood from the clouds while the photo below has a darker tone to it from the dark clouds at the top. These are my framing shots. This first one is taken in Stowe VT.
This is the upper waterfall at jeudevine falls in Hardwick VT. This is taken in France while I was on a boat tour.
This was taken in a museum I went to while visiting France.
These next two are of the Eiffel Tower; First in the daytime and second when it was lit up at night.

Great point! I especially enjoyed the golden rule pictures this week. The way the dark was overcast in relatin to the flag made my mind run wild about what the flag meant and stands for in our country. The darkness reminded me of the sadness we all endure in response to 911....I could go on! All I can say is Excellent Work this week! :)

  2. Ekta,

This is weird ..... I sent you a comment from
school, just yesterday. I really liked your photos. The thought the museum was really great due to the depth that was captured and the monochromatic element was splendid that included the creams and whites.
